About the Author
Father David L. Toups, S.T.D.
Father David Toups was born in Seattle, Washington, but spent most of his childhood in south Louisiana before his family relocated to Florida. A child of Catholic school education, Father Toups graduated from Clearwater Central Catholic High School.
After high school, Father Toups studied at St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami where he obtained a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Theology in 1993. He entered Major Seminary at the Pontifical North American College in Rome receiving an S.T.B and an S.T.L. in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. Ordained a priest for the Diocese of St. Petersburg in 1997, Father Toups served as parochial vicar of St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Spring Hill, Florida for four years.
Father Toups returned to Rome in 2002 to complete his doctoral studies at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum). In 2004, he successfully defended his thesis in Dogmatic Theology entitled The Sacerdotal Character as the Foundation of the Priestly Life: Including the Contribution of Blessed Columba Marmion.
Father Toups currently serves the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as the Associate Director of the Secretariat for Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations. Father Toups is available for speaking engagements. Please contact us to schedule your event with Father Toups.
